Breathe with Me at PIN. Kindertag

The first PIN. Children's Day was an overwhelming success despite the bad weather. Thousands of children took part in the wide range of activities on offer. Their happy faces were the best proof of how successful the concept was. In total, around 14,000 children, young people and their families visited the Pinakothek der Moderne and Museum Brandhorst.

A special highlight was the interactive art project “Breathe with Me”, by the renowned artist Jeppe Hein. Everyone could take part. Participants each visualized a breath through a blue brushstroke on a 26-metre-long canvas. The result was a dense collaborative work in which thousands participated. “Breathe with Me” symbolizes and mindfulness and offered a unique opportunity to experience art in a very special way.

“ Children need participation and fair educational opportunities, regardless of their social environment. Shared experiences create a sense of belonging, boost self-confidence and open up new horizons. Children should not only learn about historical and social contexts - creativity, empathy and critical thinking are also invaluable. ”
