Breathe with Me at Moderna Museet

As a part of his solo exhibition Who are you really? at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden, Jeppe Hein presented two iterations of Breathe with Me and Today I feel like… . Directly in front of the museum, visitors were invited to breathe on a massive curved wall, adding their breathe to a chorus of other ultramarine blue lines. Next to it, another curved wall invited visitors to paint their face in one of the many blue circles covering the surface.
Within the museum, two entire galleries in the museum’s permanent collection were dedicated to Breathe with Me and Today I feel like…. Over the course of the three-month-long exhibition, the walls became a deep blue from visitors layering their painted breath over and over each other and hundredth of faces looked down from the walls.
